“If it wasn't for Spires, I don't know what I would have done, they have helped me with so much over the years and help us women feel safer. I always know I can go to Spires for a chat, or pop down to them when I need help with my benefits or housing, even for food if I don't have any money.”

About Our Women’s Service

Spires’ dedicated women’s team focuses on supporting at-risk women by addressing health, safety and well-being concerns. We aim to create a positive and welcoming environment where women from all backgrounds feel safe and included.

Our women's space at Spires provides a safe environment where our women’s team addresses the needs of women facing domestic violence, exploitation, addiction and homelessness. We offer consistent, long-term support for those with complex issues, including mental and physical health challenges, unemployment, and no recourse to public funds. Many of the women have children and are in unstable housing situations, requiring our comprehensive assistance to improve their well-being.

As with our housing & homelessness sessions, our team will conduct a thorough assessment to determine each client’s needs and develop a care plan. This plan addresses their specific issues and outlines goals for health, safety & well-being. Goals may include securing stable housing, providing emotional and mental support, reducing substance use and exiting sex work.

We welcome individuals of different ages, nationalities, religions & sexual orientation for whom we will offer our advice and support. They access a range of internal and external support services in a welcoming and inclusive environment where they can feel safe. *
